Like Candy

Sounds of explosion rang just over a year ago
Saw the tall erupting flame on the edge of my world
Sat fixated from a distance in the comfort of the night
Overcome by this new presence, so deep and dark and bright

And with time began to find
a gentle face within the flame
With coal-black eyes like lullabies
A spirit that can't be tamed
A beauty that can't be framed

With a name that tastes like candy
you're chocolate coating on my eyes
I want you more than anything
This should come as no surprise
I've fought hard to remain stable
but it's now useless I fear
I've long since lost my sanity
from the sight of you, my dear

Now that I've melted I lay oustretched, engulfed and bare
Wishing I'd evaporate into this tense electric air
Each soft stare and subtle touch grant me momentary bliss
But the walks home now hurt too much from longing and loneliness

  1. I really love this one, and you would be foolish not to turn it into a song someday! "deep and dark and bright" still resounds beautifully to me.

  2. It began as more of a song idea and I definitely had that intention in mind. . .I will have to get on that!
